Elegant French Empire–style gilt bronze curtain tiebacks with classical ornament, late 19th century.
A refined pair of French Empire Revival curtain tiebacks, finely cast in gilt bronze and richly detailed with classical motifs. Elegant, sculptural, and highly decorative, they bring an authentic historic accent to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
This pair of French Empire Revival curtain tiebacks dates to the late 19th century and is executed in finely cast gilt bronze. Each tieback features a gracefully curved form with classical Empire ornamentation, including stylized foliage, characteristic of the period’s neoclassical vocabulary.
The surfaces retain their original gilding, featuring a warm, mellow tone enhanced by a natural patina that has developed over time. The sculptural quality and balanced proportions make these pieces both functional and decorative, suitable for use as curtain tiebacks or as architectural accents in an interior setting.
The reverse sides bear maker’s marks and numbering, indicating workshop production. A fine example of French decorative bronze work from the Empire Revival period.
