About the Item

Spectacular sculpture composed of 156 three-sided modules made of grog-fired clay, designed by the artist as a room divider. The elements are threaded onto a metal rod and separated by washers, ensuring their mobility. Each prism has a triangular base with side of 9 cm and a height of approximately 20 cm. The dimensions of the complete composition, including a slight adjustment to accommodate the rods and to allow the safe rotation of the elements are 250 cm high, by 150 cm long. This arrangement allows for full appreciation of the color palette, organized around natural brown tones and four shades of blue, from turquoise to cobalt, in matte or satin finishes. The rhythm is emphasized by the alternation of flat and recessed surfaces. There is some minor surface wear, which does not affect the aesthetic qualities of this truly masterful piece. To keep shipping costs reasonable, shipping of only the ceramic elements can be considered. Jean-Pierre Viot (b. 1936) is a ceramic artist. In 1956, young graduate of the Rouen School of Fine Arts, he joined the design studio of the prestigious Gien earthenware factory. Until the mid-1960s, his work was primarily utilitarian. The establishment of his first workshop in Ruffec-le-Château, a small town in central France, quickly led him to explore architectural ceramics, creating fireplaces, fountains, and large-scale wall elements, each designed for a specific purpose and location. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe.
