About the Item

A Stupa-shaped architectural detail from Thailand, mid-to-late 20th century, handcrafted in traditional Thai earthenware, with a natural flat glazed finish. Symbolizing enlightenment, The Stupa shape represents one of the most ancient and sacred Buddhist architectural traditions, commonly seen in temples and homes across Thailand, Cambodia and other regions of Southeast Asia during centuries. As architectural details, many small stupas and other antefixes were traditionally made out of earthenware, a tradition that experienced Thai artisans carry today. This stupa measures 7 inches in diameter, and about 18 inches high. It rests freely on a bespoke metal and wood stand, for a total height of 22 inches. Finished in flat beige glaze, with rustic effect.
