About the Item
Although originating from the 1870s, the design of this Victorian marble effect drop-in bathroom sink is truly timeless.
Made in porcelain, the top of the basin is hand painted with veining and applied with a clear glaze over the top to simulate the look and feel of marble.
It is a smaller than average size making it best suited to a cloakroom or ensuite and is designed to be used with wall mounted taps. For this reason, it can be styled in both modern and traditional ways to suit your desired interior style.
The metal waste is stamped ‘Lambert
Sons, London’, founders and hydraulic engineers of Lambeth during the late 19th century.

A large antique John Bolding Carrara marble corner basin with porcelain sink. Dating between circa 1890 to 1910 and twice the standard size, this sink is a Trone model, and incorporates Victorian and Edwardian styles. This sink would make a lovely addition to a larger bathroom in a grand country home or townhouse.

John Bolding and Sons was established in 1822 by John Bolding. It began as a brass foundry merchants, but by 1871 the firm had evolved into the sanitary world.
It began to develop an interest for “improvements in water closets and in valves and regulating apparatus for the same” as quoted in the London Gazette in 1871.

This impressive basin / sink and stand is made from white and grey Carrara marble, the tap is nickel plated. The under-mount bowl is made from a single piece of Carrara marble.
The taps have been reconditioned, including Nickel plating, and are in working condition.
