About the Item
An exquisite Victorian Era bathroom vanity. Features a red and white vein marble top with scalloped soap holders and porcelain sink basins by John Shanks (Britain). The spectacular mahogany base features "C" scrolled accents along the apron and ornate down swept cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees and scrolled feet. The rear legs are turned in a baluster form with fluting at the center and bun feet.
Shanks of Barrhead was a name known throughout the world. Much of what we take for granted in the bathroom was pioneered by John Shanks.
Purchased and imported from England in the 1980s.
