About the Item

Solid and striking, this pair of antique French oak doors once marked the entry to a stately home. Crafted from richly grained oak, the surface bears a warm medium-toned finish that highlights the natural texture and depth of the wood. Each door features a classic three-panel design, including a beveled diamond motif on the lower and middle sections—subtle, geometric details that add character without overpowering the form. Wrought iron rosette knobs and an original mail slot remain intact, lending an authentic touch to their functional past. The scale, weight, and craftsmanship point to their original use as exterior doors, though they could just as easily be reimagined indoors for a custom cabinet or room divider. A timeless statement from provincial France—rooted in tradition, built to endure. Salvaged in France, 19th century. Doors can be used on the exterior of the home, or interior to separate two rooms. The doors are constructed from oak and are very heavy. The exterior of the doors bears a medium stain, while the interior is painted a pale mauve color. Original iron mail slot and decorative door knobs are present on the exterior of the door. Cremone bolt hardware is attached to the interior of one door. Overall wear is consistent with age and use; no structural damage. Doors measure approximately 49.75” W x 85.25” H x 1.5” D.
