About the Item

A sliding, barn style door created for the OneTree Exhibit at the Robert Bateman Centre in Victoria as a collaboration. The front features adzed solid wood frame, as well as the live edge slabs, handcrafted by Live Edge Design from solid Walnut and intricate rock mosaic by Anient Art of Stone. The back of the door features a 50 Million-year-old fossil. The centre artwork is a flow of all natural stones and crystals. Among many meaningful stones, the mosaic includes a 350 million year old ammonite and a snakeskin agate from a lava tube in Mount St Helens which once blanketed the walnut oneTree in ash. Andreas Kunert of Ancient Art of Stone patiently places the stones into ancient geometric patterns and his wife, Naomi adds crystals and rocks for their healing and psychological powers. The back of the door features a full sized 50 million-year-old, lake bed, rock full of fossilized fish. Shown here is one of the fossils; a Diplomystus Dentatus. The 600lb, showstopping door was part of the oneTree exhibit at the Robert Bateman Centre in Victoria (Nov 2017 - Jan 2018). Each of the pebbles, crystals and semi-precious stones within this piece is known to have unique qualities, knowledge of which has been passed down to us from ancient civilizations of long ago.
