18th century French Louis XV fireback with two pillars, a cross, and the date of production 1738. The pillars refer to the club of Hercules and symbolize strength and the unknown. The cross refers to Saint Andrew's Cross. Saint Andrew is said to have been martyred on a cross in this shape. It stands for humility and martyrship.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request it can be made black / pewter.
