About the Item
18th century French Louis XV Period fireback with the Goddess Diana bathing.
Diana, Goddess of hunting, also protector of animals of the forest, especially the young animals. She experienced great pleasure in hunting, but took care that she did not kill more animals than could be eaten.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request, it can be made black/pewter colored with stove polish at no extra cost.
It is in good condition and does not have cracks. It is fit for use in the fireplace or as a backsplash.
