About the Item

Muscular yet elegant, this cast iron brazier makes a unique antique centerpiece. Made in France in the 1800s, this piece would have originally been used as a portable heater. The holes in the basin would have increased airflow to the hot coals, allowing the embers to burn bright on cold evenings. The basin rests atop a tripod base; the feet are cast into little hooves, giving the brazier an impish character. The enigmatic silhouette and the dark beauty of the cast iron makes this piece an object to be admired in its own right.
