Beautiful 19th century French fireback featuring the 'Fox and the Grapes' design. The 'Fox and the Grapes' theme is from a fable of Jean de la Fontaine. The fireback is from the Napoleon III Period.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request, it can be made black/pewter colored with stove polish at no extra cost. It is in good condition and does not have cracks.
