About the Item

A very fine 19th Century brass fire screen, fully restored and of exceptional quality. The protective wire mesh of shaped, rectangular form is set within a stunningly detailed polished, cast brass frame with beautiful Neoclassical motifs throughout comprising of flaming torch finials, foliate, beaded row and scrolling ribbon motif detail, surmounted with an elegant flowerhead and tied ribbon bow carrying handle flanked with trailing foliate. The wire mesh itself adorned to the central reserve with a further decorative arrangement of a quiver of arrows, flowerheads, ribbon and foliate detail above pierced apron with centred cartouche flanked with swags of foliate and ruffles, supported on out-splaying trestle leg with scroll and foliate motifs, terminating on hoof foot.
