About the Item

An antique French copper cooking pot with handle for suspending over the fire, dating to the second half of the 19th century. The exterior has a beautiful patina of color and a hammered texture–whether by intention or from regular use–accented with blooms of turquoise verdigris. Look closely to appreciate the unique lugs joining the handle to the cauldron. Today the pot could be used for an attractive catchall around the home and hearth, as a planter, or displayed to admire this culinary relic–its aged finish will only improve with time.
