About the Item

An antique French copper cooking pot with a forged iron carrying handle for suspending over the fire, dating to the second half of the 19th century. The exterior has a beautiful patina, darkened and textured by time and use–accented with blooms of turquoise verdigris. Look closely to see the incredible skill required in joining the iron belt swing handle to the copper cauldron. The substantial pot could be used for an attractive catchall around the home and hearth, as a planter, or simply to admire this culinary relic–its aged finish will only improve with time.
