About the Item

A striking and very high quality French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Belle Époque period ormolu fire screen. The screen is raised by elegant scrolled legs with handsome paw feet and adorned with charming acanthus leaves leading to fine acorn finials. At the center is an urn with the eternal flame set on a mesh background framed within a mottled ormolu band with a fine laurel band and striking richly chased swaging floral garlands and musical instruments tied with a ribbon. The pierced top crown displays beautiful unique rosettes and a most decorative central floral garland amidst elegant scrolled movements.
