About the Item

A high quality and most decorative French late 19th century Belle Epoque Period Louis XVI st. Ormolu fireplace screen. This freestanding square fire screen is supported on two split supports with a recessed scalelike designs while at the top of the supports are acanthus leaves. At the top center of the screen is a wonderful detailed flowing ribbon decorated by a quiver and a scepter with the eternal flame. At both ends of the top frame are two additional tied ribbons which hold up a richly chased Ormolu floral garland with a central foliate branch. Exceptional detail and gilding throughout.
