About the Item
Beautiful 18th-century French Louis XV Period 'Flower Basket' fireback with flower decorations and two pillars. The pillars refer to the club of Hercules and stand for strength and the unknown. Towards the end of the 18th century and the start of the Louis XV style, the pillars took on a less hefty form and were decorated with symbols like flowers and flower baskets.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request, it can be made black/pewter colored with stove polish at no extra cost. It is in good condition and does not have cracks.
