A fireplace or nursery guard with steel top rail having wide diamond mesh supported by iron bars and a curved lower iron rail. Nursery guards were designed to keep children and dogs away from the fire, and sometimes to as clothing or towel hangers. They are now used as decorative accessories for a fireplace, either wood or gas.
