About the Item
A beautifully-made pair of brass English andirons, with gadrooned urns surmounted by flame-topped finials. The substantial base supports with scrolled foliage and fruit in relief, on stylised dolphin feet. This set of andirons are near identical to a set at Knole Park, Kent, see image from The English Fireplace by Shuffrey. The rear log-supports can be adjusted to fit the fire opening. Restored.
