About the Item

Elegant antique French Neoclassical fire dogs in bronze and wrought iron, circa 1890s – refined details, urn finials, and paw feet, perfect for adding grandeur to any fireplace. A refined pair of antique French fire dogs or andirons in the Neoclassical style, dating from the late 19th century (circa 1890s). These tall and elegant pieces combine bronze ornamentation with wrought iron supports, bringing both decorative grandeur and functional use to the fireplace. The andirons feature finely cast Neoclassical details, including urn-shaped finials, scrolling accents, pierced ornamentation, and bold paw feet. The vertical structure is richly articulated, lending a strong architectural presence, while the back irons provide sturdy support for logs. Each piece bears impressed numbers and letter marks on the underside of the feet, suggesting maker attribution and workshop production in France during this period. Dimensions: Height 56 cm (22.05 in); Width 22 cm (8.66 in); Depth 15 cm (5.9 in). Condition: In good antique condition, with signs of age and use. Traces of surface wear, oxidation, and patina to the bronze and iron, consistent with age, enhance the authentic character of the pieces. Structurally solid and ready for use. These impressive andirons embody the refined Neoclassical taste of the late 19th century, adding both elegance and historic charm to any fireplace setting.
