About the Item

Exceptional, original antique fireplace surround composed of three solid blocks of Burgundy hardstone and two 17th-century turned columns. The architecture is grand yet elegant: a finely profiled mantel with crisp cavetto, resting on cylindrical columns that rise from squared plinths. Color hues: golden-ochre and honey with soft rose veining on the mantel and jambs; the columns read warm chestnut/bordeaux; side returns show olive-grey undertones—an easy, sophisticated palette that complements both neutral schemes and bold art. Rare dimensions (approx.): overall width 195 cm, overall height 143 cm, opening W 137 × H 120 cm, mantel depth 43 cm, jamb depth/projection 54 cm. These generous yet balanced proportions make it perfect for a living or reception room, study, or office seeking a refined luxury ambiance or a timeless eclectic modern-historic blend. Installation compatibility: the smooth stone surfaces and monolithic construction make this surround straightforward to install. It pairs beautifully with a traditional masonry firebox or an Isokern modular system and adapts to bespoke hearth designs. Design note: once gracing a Patrician residence, this museum-piece scale surround anchors signature interiors and holds its own against the most exclusive artworks. Superb, authentic imperfections and a mellow patina enhance its character. Condition: expert stone-mason restorations; wear consistent with age and use.
