Presented by Schermerhorn Antique Fireplaces, this 19th-century French Louis XV fireplace mantel is crafted from the highly coveted Noir de Mazy marble, a rare Belgian black marble prized for its deep, inky tone and luxurious natural sheen.
Known for its density and dramatic presence, Noir de Mazy has been favored for high-status interiors since the 18th century, and this superb example showcases the stone at its most refined.
The mantel features exuberant Rococo carvings, masterfully sculpted in high relief. Flowing acanthus foliage, scrolling volutes, and a grand central shell cartouche sweep across the façade, embodying the elegance and movement characteristic of the Louis XV period.
