About the Item
A magnificent and monumental antique American carved oak fireplace mantel, San Francisco, circa 1880.
A fabulous high Victorian, Romanesque carved oak fireplace mantel, the large 8ft wide mantel with a single board thick oak mantle top. Below is a pair of substantial oak columns with large Corinthian capitals with shell and acanthus leaf carvings
budding flowers, to the center is a carved cartouche with corresponding carving and a monogram with the letters "SWM". The base of the columns have ring turnings and are raised on substantial block bases.
The fireplace came from a San Francisco mansion and has been stored for the last 60 years. Condition is very good and all olriginal, the finish is original, there is no noted damage or restoration. If you require any other measurements please do not hesitate to ask.
