An architecturally scaled fireplace grate by the William H. Jackson Company, executed in steel and cast iron with decorative brass finials. The design features a bowed fire back, tiered horizontal bars, and gracefully scrolled uprights terminating in foliate brass mounts, combining robust functionality with refined ornamental detail. The grate is stamped to the reverse “WM. H. JACKSON COMPANY, 2 W. 47 ST., NEW YORK,” confirming manufacture by one of New York’s notable early 20th-century suppliers of high-quality fireplace fittings and architectural metalwork. Jackson was known for producing durable yet stylistically informed hearth accessories for both townhouses and country estates, often incorporating classical and Beaux-Arts inspired detailing. Well-proportioned and visually substantial, this piece presents beautifully with a rich, time-softened surface patina, making it equally suitable for use or as a decorative architectural accent.
