At over 32 inches tall and 44 inches wide, this substantial cast iron fireback would have graced the back wall of a fireplace in a French chateau around 1700. The magnificence of the heraldic elements is accentuated by the highly curvaceous form.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Good antique condition. Commensurate oxidation has led to some faded elements, most noticeably the base. Fleabites, light rubs, and minor buildup. Some superfluous iron on the edges, as a result of the casting process. Please see detail photos.
