About the Item
This English Regency style mantel is carved from white statuary marble with classic gray veining. In the center of the apron is a rectangular white marble urn motif with floral detail, and above each jamb are complimentary motifs of two matching white marble urns. Hand-carved fluting runs across the apron and down each leg. The shelf is carved with a single groove.
This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to room 1014. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
The original worn creme marble hearth is included. Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria, this is in good condition. Please note that the one of the corner motifs became separated and needs to be plastered back during installation. Please note, this item is located in our Scranton, PA location.
