This impressive authentic 19th century French fireplace surround is carved from magnificent Red Griotte marble, a historic stone famously used in the Kings cabinet interior and on the tablettes of the Mazarin commodes at the Château de Versailles.
The Griotte Rouge marble presents a deep, wine-red ground animated by a lively pattern of darker cherry tones and lighter coral inclusions, delicately shot through with fine white veining. Polished to a refined sheen, the surface gently reflects the light of the room: by day the marble feels graphic and architectural, while evening light draws out its warm, regal glow and creates an intimate, château-like ambiance.
