About the Item
A vibrant set of 24 antique glazed yellow tiles by Craven Dunnill and Co. (stamped). Supplied loose, these eye-catching early 20th century tiles together create six repeating circle designs with foliate centres which can be arranged as desired.
They would make a stunning backsplash for a pop of colour in a contemporary kitchen, as well as looking equally as striking in the entrance hall of a period property. Reclaimed, they showcase timeworn wear that only adds to their unique character.
Craven Dunnill
Co
Established in 1872, Craven Dunnill was founded by Henry Powell Dunnill who set up a tile factory in Jackfield, Ironbridge. Trading under the name ‘Craven Dunnill
Co’, the firm was to become one of the leading British producers of ceramic and encaustic tiles.
Though tile production ceased in 1951 and the Jackfield site closed, the modern Craven Dunnill firm returned in 2000. The business still exists today, supplying contemporary ceramic tiles made using traditional Victorian methods to the likes of London’s House of Commons and interior design projects across the globe.
