About the Item

Rare circular garden bench in patinated wrought iron, known as a “tree bench,” composed of two semicircles that join around a trunk. The structure is made of curved iron slats riveted to vertical supports, resting on arched legs in forged flat iron. The assembly is entirely riveted, a hallmark of 19th-century craftsmanship. The upper section is adorned with graceful scrollwork crowning the backrest, adding a decorative touch that highlights the artisan’s skill. The surface shows a beautiful natural oxidized patina, blending warm browns and greenish tones — a genuine mark of time spent outdoors. An authentic piece of antique garden furniture, both decorative and functional, ideal for encircling an old tree or enhancing a grand park walkway. Such circular benches were a familiar sight in romantic 19th-century parks, often placed beneath lime or plane trees to invite quiet contemplation in the shade of nature.
