An exceptional sculptural concrete garden chair in the manner of Swiss designer Willy Guhl, dating to the 1960s. This beautifully formed piece features the iconic organic shell seat rising from a tapered pedestal base, creating a timeless modern silhouette that bridges Brutalism and mid-century modern design.
Originally conceived for both seating and garden use, this example presents with its authentic aged patina, showcasing decades of outdoor character — weathering, surface mottling, and subtle mineral bloom consistent with original fiber-cement concrete forms of the era. The surface texture and organic imperfections lend the chair a soulful, architectural presence that only true vintage pieces possess. Layers of paint have been removed. Some of the old paint still remains.
Perfectly scaled for a garden, atrium, sunroom, or as a dramatic sculptural statement indoors, this chair works equally well as functional seating or as a standalone art object.
