About the Item
A beautifully timeworn pair of 18th Century French doors accompanied by their original boiserie side panels, removed from a period interior and retaining a wonderfully authentic patinated surface. The ensemble features classic Louis XV profiles, with shaped lower panels and softly arched upper panels framed by carved mouldings. The paint surface—an elegant, muted palette of parchment, ivory, and pale stone—has distressed over time to reveal areas of earlier layers, creating a rich, naturally weathered texture.
The doors are flanked by two tall, narrow boiserie panels with matching moulded decoration, intended originally as part of a unified architectural scheme. Together, they offer an exceptional opportunity to recreate the atmosphere of an 18th-century French interior, whether fitted into a room, installed as a decorative backdrop, or repurposed as statement wall panelling.
The scale, proportion, and untouched patina give this set tremendous decorative impact. Pieces of boiserie with this level of originality and coherence are increasingly scarce, making them particularly desirable for both classical and contemporary settings seeking architectural character.
