About the Item

Outstunning Solomonic column in carved wood, gilded with gold leaf and polychromed. The shaft twists upon itself in a helical fashion, in polychrome wood in a deep green color, its entire length adorned with garlands of flowers and vegetal motifs such as vine leaves, carved in relief against the intense green background that covers the entire column. The scalloped base is ornamented with festoons that culminate in fruit arrangements carved in relief. The Corinthian-style capital, typical of these columns, is richly decorated with finely carved acanthus leaves curved upwards, terminating at the corners with four small volutes. These columns were widely used in Spain and Latin America as decorative elements in church altarpieces and altars. Its helical shape symbolizes the divine presence. A highly decorative piece of great artistic, historical, and cultural value. Perfect for enhancing large or small interior spaces or covered verandas, this piece is highly sought after by art collectors!
