About the Item

An elegant Continental 19th century Empire st. Mahogany and Giltwood pedestal. This handsome rectangular shaped pedestal is raised by fanciful toupie shaped supports with palmette leaves. The rectangular Mahogany base displays recessed mottled panels on each sides with Giltwood laurel garlands and wreaths at each sides. The base is also decorated by outer columns with additional palmette leaves and top Giltwood acorns. The rectangular central column above showcases a scrolled Giltwood acanthus leave decorations on each side. The front and back side recessed panels display central Giltwood pierced rosettes with elongated palmettes designs. Above is the top shelf with elegant 'C' scrolled Giltwood foliage on each corner flanking central arched foliate decorations.
