About the Item
A tall pair of Italian carved and painted wood columns, from the early 18th century, displayed on custom iron stands. These antique architectural columns from Italy, standing approximately 7.25 feet in height, are gesso, paint, and gilt over wood, with beautifully twisted bodies topped with hand-carved, curled leaf motif details typical Roman Corinthian fashion. Leafy carved vines wrap and embellish the columns from top to bottom. Each piece has been mounted on a custom black iron stand, having a square base. There is a slightly differing coloring between the pair, one being a bit warmer/richer and the other lighter. Both have a wonderfully aged patina throughout. These 18th century Italian architectural Corinthian columns are what we like to refer to as a "room maker."
