About the Item

A most decorative French 19th century Louis XV st. mahogany, kingwood, ormolu, and Rouge Royale marble pedestal column. The pedestal is raised by elegant scrolled feet with impressive fitted scrolled acanthus leaf ormolu sabots with a fine fillet that extends along the scalloped shape frieze. Striking chutes lead up each corner to superb pierced foliate mounts in a rich satin and burnished finish. The front and sides display beautiful bombee shapes and are each decorated with exceptionally inlaid foliate marquetry designs set on butterfly veneered backgrounds. Above a fine mottled ormolu band and ormolu corner mounts is the original Rouge Royale marble top. Top Dimension: 11.25".
