French Gilt Metal Mounted Sicilian Jasper Pedestal from the early 20th century, with an associated square granite top, above an ionic column, on a square plinth. The pedestal is a beautiful example of neoclassical design, which is characterized by its emphasis on symmetry, balance, and classical elements, often drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture. This pedestal features a square top and base, a fluted or plain column, and gilt bronze mounts, all common elements in Neoclassical design. Sicilian Jasper, is known for it's rich colors, and different shades of red are prominent in the pedestal, ranging from variegated brick red to deeper reds. 42" H x 11" W x 11" D.
