About the Item

A magnificent and monumentally scaled pair of Italian 17th century Baroque Period patinated and Giltwood columns, circa 1670. Each exquisitely spiral turned column is supported on a square patinated Wood plinth below a double mottled Giltwood socle and wrap around foliate palmettes. Decorating each column are stunning and most impressive intertwined and finely carved Giltwood grape vines with protruding grapes and leaves. Above are the magnificent Giltwood Corinthian capitols which are opulently carved with oval borders, scrolls, and acanthus leaves. Wonderful proportions and palatial presence. *Patinated wood bases added at a later date.
