About the Item

Standing at roughly 41 inches, this large pair of stone pedestals would make impressive architectural elements for any house. Hand-carved in the South of France in the early 1800s, the gray pedestals have acquired a wonderful patination that gives the stone accents of white and light gray, accompanied by traces of green and brown moss and lichen. Topped by a five-inch thick square capital, the robust pedestals are capable of supporting garden ornaments, such as statues, finials, and tree planters. The pedestals have a series of carved moldings, enhancing their stately appearance. A protruding ring encircles the top of the square column, just below two layers of thin molding under a cavetto cornice that adorns the entablature. Our antique stone pedestals can be used inside or outdoors as foundations for large decorative items or as stand-alone architecturals.
