About the Item

Decorate an atrium, sunroom, or indoor patio with this elegant antique planter. Crafted in France circa 1820, the Louis XV–style jardinière stands on scrolled escargot feet decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulders. The bombe-shaped body features serpentine lines and richly carved ornamentation including garlanded foliage, floral sprays, and a central scallop shell motif in high relief across the scalloped apron. Retaining its original removable zinc liner, the planter showcases a beautifully aged patinated grey painted finish, highlighted with gilt accents that emphasize its graceful contours and intricate carvings. The interior’s soft blue hue contrasts delicately with the exterior’s tones, enhancing its decorative appeal. This refined and substantial jardinière is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, displaying a timeworn surface that enriches its antique character.
