About the Item

This antique planter is unsigned, so no specific maker could be determined, but it is presumed to have been made in the United States in circa 1890 in the period Victorian style. The planter is constructed of brass which has been heavily decorated with chased and pierced fruits and flowers on either side of the lion head handles on the bowl. The post of the pedestal is decorated with a swirled pattern and with leaves and flowers around the top of the base. The base is finished with three figural paw feet.
