This is an antique jardiniere stand. An English, mahogany and brass tree or bush planter, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1750. A delightfully self-contained piece, showcasing the refinement and elegance of Georgian craftsmanship.
Select stocks present fine grain interest with rich caramel hues throughout
Lift-out brass liner, original in form, showing a gently time-worn patina
Attractive bowed form, offering generous internal capacity for planting
Useful tool drawer set to the front — ideal for pruners, twine or small garden accessories
Dressed with a brass batwing lock escutcheon and inset working lock — key present
Brass drop handles to each side for ease of repositioning
Raised upon a quartet of squat cabriole legs, terminating in shaped pad feet
Displays warm colour and desirable ageing commensurate with its mid 18th century origins

Here we have an antique English late Georgian, circa 1820, Gillows of Lancaster (Gillows) mahogany bedside cabinet pot cupboard. Made by one of England’s most notable furniture makers Gillows, this single bedside cabinet has multiple key features, as it opens firstly into a chair and secondly by lifting up the seat it reveals a concealed compartment originally for chamber pots. Standing on four turned legs and featuring handle cutouts to each slide. Stamped inside of the concealed chamber pot compartment “Gillows Lancaster”.
