About the Item

Single Bespoke Large Square French Style steel and cast iron orangerie planter box in lacquered white (as these are custom made to order, customers may request any color from the Benjamin Moore collection). Handcrafted in New Orleans by local metalsmiths using 14 gauge steel and cast iron, using centuries’ old French techniques. Each planter is raised to allow drainage through drilled holes on bottom plate. Corner posts are topped with a pinecone finial, an ancient symbol of open-heartedness. Specially crafted finishes offer durable protection while retaining a unique patina. Each planter is made by hand and is one of a kind. If a different color than lacquered white is preferred, this planter can be customized in size as well as color from the Benjamin Moore Color Chart. Allow 6 to 8 weeks for production for custom orders. Story of the French Orangerie Planter in New Orleans: Dawn in the French Quarter, maybe 200 years ago, maybe today. Even deserted, the streets still pulse with the life unfolding behind closed doors. Those doors—whether humble streetside entrances or grand portes cochères—mark personal sanctuaries, islands of intimacy. A solitary wanderer might wonder: Who is inside? What are they like? Many French Quarter residents leave clues, like the pairs of orangerie planters flanking neighborhood entryways. Built to last yet offering the formal beauty of fruits and flowers, these planters offer a timeless greeting: True hospitality knows no strangers. We make our orangerie planters by hand in New Orleans, to honor our city’s tradition of generous living. Local metalsmiths use 14 gauge steel and cast iron, using centuries’ old French techniques. We top each planter corner with a pinecone finial, an ancient symbol of open-heartedness. Specially crafted finishes offer durable protection while retaining a unique patina. Each pair of planters is one of a kind, all are heirloom pieces to be enjoyed by generations of friends and family. And passersby who remain at a distance? They too receive a fleeting but heartfelt welcome.

Jean Campa Signed Abstract Aluminum Sculpture, 1992, Mounted as Coffee Table
Located in New York, NY
Jean Campa Signed Abstract Aluminum Sculpture, France, 1992. The sculpture custom mounted as a rare and exceptional coffee or cocktail table that transcends furniture design, uniting art and function in a singular statement piece. Within the table base sits an original abstract aluminum sculpture by French artist Jean Campa (1933–2024), signed and dated 1992. The expressive composition, with its folded planes and organic forms, captures Campa’s signature ability to translate rhythm and improvisation into sculptural presence. The artwork is framed within a newly constructed steel structure with brass-capped feet, topped by a striking asymmetrical and geometrical plexiglass surface. The transparent top both grounds the design and reveals the sculptural depth below, allowing light to play across the aluminum folds and emphasizing the dynamic tension between solidity and openness. More than a table, this is a signed, one-of-a-kind artwork—a centerpiece that embodies the late 20th-century avant-garde dialogue between fine art, design, and architecture. Jean Campa (1933–2024) was a French sculptor known for his distinctive cast aluminum works. An industrial designer by training, he pivoted to dental surgery but gradually dedicated himself to his artistic practice. His first works in clay were figurative, but his passion for jazz inspired him to translate musical improvisation to physical abstract forms. He frequented artists such as Gérard Schneider, Etienne Martin, Jean Villeri, René Char, André Verdet and Consuelo de...
