About the Item

Set of 55 Brutalist Fibre-Cement Square Planters, Switzerland, 1970s, in the Style of Willy Guhl A rare architectural set of 55 square fibre-cement planters from Switzerland, 1970s. Beautifully weathered patina, strong brutalist presence, and ideal for modular garden or interior installations. This impressive collection of 55 square fibre-cement planters was produced in Switzerland during the 1970s and offers a remarkable blend of brutalist aesthetics and industrial functionality. Made from dense, weather-resistant fibre-cement, the pieces reflect the design language associated with Willy Guhl and the renowned Eternit workshops, where cement composites were elevated to artful architectural objects. Originally used as industrial moulding trays, the planters today function as sculptural, versatile decorative elements. Their strict geometric form—square with subtly tapered edges—creates an expressive rhythm when arranged in groups. The material surface shows a highly tactile character, ranging from mineral deposits to concrete patina, rust-tones, and textural variations acquired through decades of outdoor exposure. Each piece has its own unique markings: some show perforated bottoms, others a fine grid texture or smooth interior. This natural diversity adds authenticity and depth to any architectural or landscape project. With their uniform format of 33 × 33 × 9 cm, the planters can be stacked, lined up, or used individually, making them perfect for contemporary gardens, wabi-sabi interiors, gallery installations, rooftop terraces, restaurant designs, or boutique hotels. Fibre-cement is frost-proof, extremely durable, and significantly lighter than solid concrete, making it a practical material for both indoor and outdoor environments. Sets of this size are exceptionally difficult to source and are rarely found in such consistent quantity. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, weathering, patina, and structural marks consistent with outdoor industrial use. All pieces are solid, stable, and suitable for immediate use. Dimensions Width: 33 cm (12.99 in) Depth: 33 cm (12.99 in) Height: 9 cm (3.54 in) Quantity available: 55 pieces Price per piece:
