Large 18th Century French traditional Biot pot. The village of Biot (on the Côte d’Azur near Antibes) was famous for the quality of its pots which were mainly used for storing olives. Comes with glazing to the rims to deter insects from crawling in. Solid with wonderful patina and colouring only achieved over centuries of wear and one of the best examples you will see. Within today's home, these pots make for very decorative and collectible items.
