About the Item
Old or antique Casa Guevara Mexican pottery planter, circa early 20th century. Beautiful decoration done in a heavy majolica-type tin glaze. Casa Guevara was a highly regarded family pottery active in the city of Puebla in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This type of Mexican pottery is called Talavera after the Spanish city that made a similar type of majolica pottery. Most Mexican Talavera comes from the Mexican city of Puebla. Signed with a conjoined "CG" and "Puebla, Mexico." 8 3/4" high, 10 1/4" diameter. Small chip at footrim, as shown.
