About the Item

A matching pair of antique neoclassical style shallow buff terracotta planters, circa 1860. Though unsigned, these planters are attributed to J. M. Blashfield (1811-1882). The design is typical of Blashfield works which were usually made in light buff-toned terracotta such as this. Inspired by period Georgian styling, these antique planters are each decorated with neoclassical acanthus leaves to the body above a turned rim and separate base. Their shallow nature makes them a smart addition to outdoor spaces of any period, perfect for planting with seasonal flowers or as standalone decorative bowl urns.
