About the Item
A beautiful pair of antique buff terracotta garden urns by 19th century Scottish fireclay maker, Garnkirk (stamped). Dating to around 1860, these 19th century planters are in the classical 'tazza' form comprising of wide dishes with fruit and foliage decoration to the rims, above a shallow gadrooned body on traditional socle bases.
With their appealing buff colour and timeless design, these tazza urns will make a stunning addition to gardens of any age, usable alone as garden statuary or planted with flowers.
Garnkirk Fireclay Company
The Garnkirk Fireclay Works was established in 1831 and manufactured stoneware products until the company’s closure in 1901. Based in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, Garnkirk’s catalogue spanned a wide range of items including bricks and tiles as well as chimneypots and ornamental vases such as this one.
