This French Cast Stone Garden Bust of Ariadne, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1900), is a striking example of classical-inspired garden statuary. Ariadne, the princess of Crete in Greek mythology, was the daughter of King Minos and Queen Pasiphae, known for her role in aiding Theseus in escaping the Labyrinth. In Roman mythology, she was associated with Libera, the goddess of wine and freedom.
This large-scale bust, standing 29 inches high, 14 inches wide, and 12 inches deep, captures a contemplative expression, exuding grace and timeless beauty. It is raised on an attached 8.5-inch diameter pedestal base, lending it a stately presence suitable for both interior and exterior display.
