About the Item
This seated image of Saint Michael the Archangel has incredible detail, wonderful patina and a very peaceful presence .It is typical of late 19th and early 20th century Mexican sculpture. Very peaceful Saint Michael gazes forward with his right hand raised , and his left hand holding a palm frond which indicates peace .. under his right foot is very peaceful angel, which may represent that Saint Michael is a leader amongst many angels… The costume is typically Roman or Spanish colonial. The group of four fingers on his raised hand were broken off and reattached… A very old repair.. there is typical wear from rain, wind, and weather… the overall height on stand is 46 inches
