About the Item

A 19th century Swedish woven birch backpack, beautifully crafted from split birch strips in a traditional tight weave. Once used by rural laborers and foragers, this utilitarian form now reads as an object of sculptural and rustic elegance. The natural patina of the birch and the subtle irregularities in the weave reveal the hand of its maker, reflecting the resourcefulness and craftsmanship of Scandinavian folk traditions. A rare example of vernacular design that bridges function and artistry. This piece looks great hanging on a wall or simply sitting on the floor. Dimensions: 17" W x 8" D x 24" H.
